Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Rev. Dr. E. Scott Jones
January 18 2019
Join together with Christian sisters and brothers of various denominations and traditions on Friday, January 18.
We’ll enjoy a soup supper at 6 p.m. and worship at 7 p.m. here at First Central.
This year’s theme is “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue.”
The event is sponsored by Creighton University’s Lutheran Campus Ministry, the St. John’s Parish on the Creighton Campus, and First Central with involvement of a variety of Christian denominations.
Our preacher will be Brother James Dowd, Monk in Residence of the Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska. An offering will be taken to support the ministry of Magdalene Omaha, a survivor-led program of healing, recovery, and economic empowerment for women who experienced sex trafficking/prostitution, violence, and addiction.
“Each year, we look forward to this opportunity to worship together and be reminded of what unites us in Christian faith,” said Molly Mattingly, director of music ministry for St. John’s and Campus Ministry.
Let us unite together with Christians all over the world in celebrating the week.
