Last week Scott Jones happened to be in Macy, Nebraska where he checked on our Mission 4/1 Earth trees.  What are those, you ask?

In 2013 the United Church of Christ joint project Mission 4/1 Earth focused on ways we can help the environment.  The primary activity all churches and members are called to participate in was tree planting.  The denomination partnered with Nebraska’s own Arbor Day Foundation in this initiative.

Our church, under the leadership of Rick Brenneman, chose to plant trees on the Omaha Reservation in Macy, Nebraska at the Omaha Senior Care Center, a retirement home for Native Americans that is part of the UCC’s Council of Health and Human Services Ministries.  And we invited other churches in the Living Waters Association to participate, with a group from the Federated Church in Columbus joining us on the planting day.

It was a lot of hard work that day as we planted the trees.

In 2016 Scott Jones visited to see how the trees were doing.

Now you can see how six years later they continue to do well five years later.
