Our campers this summer explored the topic of peacemaking from a variety of cultural and theological perspectives.  Now Katie and Scott are bringing the camp experience (as best they can) back to First Central to guide our worship in the final weeks of summer.  We are also adding some fun camp-like activities to the schedule, like kayaking and hiking.

On Sunday, August 4 we will launch the series with an exploration of the South African concept of Ubuntu.

On Homecoming Sunday, August 25, our theme will be Aloha, so we encourage everyone to wear Hawaiian shirts.  During the picnic after worship the youth will lead us in various camp activities such as tie-dye and friendship bracelets.

On Sunday, September 8, artist Erin Heckeroth-Brown, who helped to create a beautiful new art piece this summer for Kamp Kaleo(pictured above), will be with us in Forum, Worship, and Coffee Hour and together we will create a new art piece to decorate our courtyard.

FirstKids will also be engaging in Peace Works, and the children will conclude our worship series on Sunday, September 15 with a Children’s Program they will design.

A great way to finish off the summer and prepare for our own All-Church Retreat September 20-22.
