An Interview with Yvette Polinsky Feb 28, 2024 | Interview With . . . What is your name, and how long have you been a member at First Central? Yvette Polinsky. I grew up in the church but was not an official member. My family moved from Omaha in 1978; I moved back in 1989. I attended church when I came back, married in the church, and had my son baptized. What is your occupation? Accounting Assistant What do you find meaningful about your work? Learning a new industry What organizations do you volunteer with? Sleep in Heavenly Peace and the Food Bank What ways do you volunteer at the church? Choir, Thanksgiving dinner, Adult Forum planning, and, when able, assist when asked to help others Why do you volunteer? It’s a way to give back to others, as others and the church have given so much to me. What do you enjoy or find meaningful about volunteering? Seeing a task come to completion and watching the faces of others. How does church, faith, or spirituality assist you with your work? I always have anthems or hymns in my head all week long–sense of peace and way to calm down. How do you think your work is making a better world? We are to be kind to others. We are to be good to ourselves. When the two are in sync, things are just better.
