First Central Story, Stewardship, Vision
In recent months much has been made of this year being the centennial of the start of the First World War. All this activity drew my thoughts back to something I once read in church history. After some searching, I found the passage. It was about the effects of the war on Rev. Gustave Hulbert who was the final pastor of Central Congregational Church. Our history book records, “Dr. Hulbert was much influenced by World War I and the effect upon our soldiers overseas. Many letters came to him from boys in the trenches.” . . . [Scott preached without manuscript this week, so listen to or watch the video in order to hear his reflection as we celebrate the completion of a remodel to our chancel, and how we carry forward the same vision that animated those who originally built our church.]
