Our Stained Glass Windows Oct 13, 2016 | News Our Stained Glass Windows After Katie’s sermon about the windows a few weeks ago, several people have asked for more details. At the time of construction of this building, the three memorial windows above the choir loft were commissioned from Charles J. Connick of Boston, MA. – considered to be the best-known designer of stained glass windows at the time. The center window is dedicated to Rev. Reuben Gaylord, Founder and First Pastor of First Congregational Church of Nebraska. The left window was given by Mrs. Mary Bent Lane, in memory of her father, Rev. Joseph Avery Bent, one of the early Congregational pastors in Nebraska. Records show this window cost $1500 at that time. The right window is dedicated to John W. Griffith, given by his parents. The west window, above the balcony, is a memorial window to Winthrop Lane, given in memory by his wife, in 1969.
