Stewardship 2019- What’s Your Story? Nikki Zimmerman Sep 18, 2018 | Interview With . . . “I will always remember that a simple invitation to visit our church where everyone is made to feel very welcome may lead to the gift of someone finding the FCC community” — Nikki Zimmerman “My name is Natalia Zimmerman – AKA- Nikki. I am a lifetime Lutheran who became a member of this church 10 years ago. Here is my story: In 2007 I closed my psychotherapy practice, sold my Dundee home ( faster than I expected) and moved out of state ready to activate ? my retirement dreams. Eight months later I was living in a Midtown condo in Omaha with my dreams in shambles. I was at a loss regarding how to spend the rest of my days without my work to depend on. So, following my own advice, I laced up my walking shoes and hit the streets of Midtown. One day as I was passing “the big church one the corner” a friendly voice hailed me from the patio. It was a church member working on our maze. We had a short, cheerful conversation and he invited me to visit our Focus Forum. I did. I stayed for church and later that year I joined – even though we say “debts” rather than “trespasses” in the Lord’s Prayer! Fast forward 10 years to the present. I now am blessed with a church community that offers personal support; a weekly church service with glorious music, thoughtful and thought provoking sermons and spiritual nurturing. FCC is also a place where I can use my talents in any number of ways. And to top it off – Focus Forum and our Book Club are still providing intellectual stimulation and fellowship. I will always remember that a simple invitation to visit our church where everyone is made to feel very welcome may lead to the gift of someone finding the FCC community. I was raised with the bible story about the windows mite- it is not how much we give but that we give as we are able from gratitude for the many blessing we have received. I invite you to join our FCC community and express your gratitude by making a financial pledge.” We’re all drawn to First Central for so many reasons…so many stories behind those reasons.
